- Personally, I don't particularly like either of those modems. rahul.net's
- older modems are PPI PM288MT II's. We have a lot of those here also. The
- only modems they have problems connecting to are USR's. Ask Rahul what
- they think of them. I have had bad experiences setting up users here who
- have Global Village modem's also. Out of 5 users who I know of who tried
- to connect with Global Village modems, 2 of the modems were DOA when they
- got them. These were the bronze, not the platinum, but I still wouldn't
- trust them. Also, doesn't the Global Village you already have (I'm
- guessing it was bundled with the computer) interfere with your keyboard
- because of the way it gets its power? - i.e. does your computer
- occasionally ask you if you want to shut down for no apparent reason?
- That's your modem pressing the power key for you.
